Mr. Kitty 2003-2021 Beloved Cat
2003-2021 RIP Mr. Kitty (Kiki)
There was never a more loyal and lovable dog than Mr. Kitty. Although he wasn't a dog, he was known for his loyalty and kindness. He was a steadfast friend and cuddle-bug, and one of the best creatures that has ever lived. Kiki (Mr. Kitty) was trapped as an adult feral cat in 2003 and earning his trust just to be able to touch him took an entire year. He was named by my brother, who thought he was a girl kitty. We found out otherwise. Mr. Kitty started his his first years of life as a pizza-pirating, ghost cat from Box Mountain in Dag House at Grinnell College (2003-2005). His ninja moves and dedication to protecting the weak were legendary. He often scrapped with other house cats to protect Dana, the small yellow kitten we adopted after him. He could jump more than 10 ft vertically in his youth, and was still stealing food at sword-fighting house parties up until covid. He would come when called until he went deaf, and was always talkative. A great conversationist, he always had something to say at mealtimes, before mealtimes, after mealtimes and at 5 am when it could potentially be a mealtime if we would just consider his point of view more. He was a dear friend and companion and lived a long life of 18 years. He died surrounded by loved ones at the vet clinic, and was still cuddling on us even though he could no longer stand. There will never be a cat like him. He was preceded in death by his partner Dana and is survived by his sister Salem. I have attached pictures of him in 2021. I think it demonstrates he lived a good life.
