Sweet Pea / Kitty Cat II
Remembering Kitty Cat II 3/18/2015
In 2003 we rescued our adult kitty (aged 3-6 yrs)
Our American Shorthair Beauty
With green eyes and an Asian influenced head.
He reached out for us, from his cage, at Friends of Animals.
He didn†t play with other cats during †play†time â€"he wanted us.
He looked at us with his bright green eyes and small pointed chin.
He was hand delivered to our home
â€" to our surprise he was a large 16 lb cat with a small Asian head.
We spent the rest of that first day coaxing him out from under our bed
â€" at night we patted the bed
â€" he bounced up and there he stayed. His forever.
What we remember most:
- his deep green large eyes looking up at us
- his grace
- his intelligence
- his small triangular head
- his tattered ears
- his broad shoulders and tucked in waist
- his hunting in our garden â€" sometimes catching a cricket â€"sometimes a lizard, which Greg released for another day
- his adaptiveness while we made house repairs
- his obedience to come when we called (but sometimes he would
lurk under a bush and watch us hunt for him)
- his seeking out Greg†s lap to sleep, while Greg worked
- his tolerance of all the medications and procedures and our caring that gave him additional years
- his beautiful †mink like†smoky blackness
- his manners
- his sleeping on our bed â€" spreading out in the wrong orientation
- his last triumphant run up the avocado tree â€" and then he did not have the strength
- his sitting on the border wall â€" soaking up the sun
- his peculiar purr â€" mostly when Greg stroked him
- his preference to us over toys
- his sitting on the rug †dotsâ€
- his walking around the backyard to ensure his kingdom was secure
, leaving his scent in his favorite places
- his watching the visiting ducks
- his watching the birds
- the akimbo stance of his left front leg
- the patter of his feet as he walked down the hall
