Granma's Story
Three years ago my wife jogging around the neighborhood and says "hi little homeless kitty, you're so sweet" to a little blond and peach colored female cat. Well guess who followed her home, just under a mile. My wife didn't know the cat was there.
I noticed cat food in our driveway with a dish of water. My daughter said she was feeding this "really cool cat" that has "the best personality". She said "can we keep her"? I said "we have 2 cats now". Out of the bushes appears this little blond cat and rubs on my legs. My daughter picked her up and she put her head under my chin . I had always been a dog person...this cat won my heart over! There was a comfortable calm connection I felt with her.
That was Oct of 06 and it was getting cold outside. We put her in our garage with fresh food and clean water (bottled) and got her a cat box. We noticed she had bad breath and pus coming out of her eye. We took her to the vet who said she had the worst mouth infection he had seen. She had to have 4 teeth pulled and be on antibiotics for an infection so bad it was coming out of her eye. She was also starving to death. We asked how old the cat was. They guessed 15. My wife is great at naming animals said we should name her "Granma".
Three years to the day, we had to put Granma to sleep. I was told most cats go off somewhere to die. Granma came home to be with us as if to say "It's OK to let me go, thank you for the best 3 years of my life, I love you too."
