Optimus had a kind soul, but his trust in humans was damaged from prior abuse. Rescued from an Animal Shelter in Los Angeles about 10 years ago, he was estimated to be in his twenties at that time. During the years spent with us (the first year at a boarding facility and the remainder of time at our home), he learned that all humans weren't a danger to him, and he was able to experience beauty, peace, bonding, and happiness in his final years of life.
