ArcherÃÃâ,Ãâ"Ãs Adoption Story
Standing at Funabashi City Shelter, Japan, I couldnÃÃâ,Ãâ"Ãt bear to look at him. His ribs poked through and he could hardly stand on his own. He barked and barked to make me look until finally I approached him. Though he was weakened, he made the effort to wag his tail and walk on a leash. I wanted to hug him and tell him I would love him. On the adoption day I could tell he knew heÃÃâ,Ãâ"Ãd be part of a new family. But the wildness in him never left and on occasion heÃÃâ,Ãâ"Ãd try to stay out longer on our walks and IÃÃâ,Ãâ"Ãd go chasing. IÃÃâ,Ãâ"Ãll always remember how he pushed me to climb Mt. Takao, play in the snow, and walk late at night just because the air felt good for walking. His favorite game was fetch and tugging on a toy. As he grew older he tired faster but he never turned down a walk or playing with his toys. Archer was with me through my move from Japan to California. He enjoyed trips to parks, mountains and beaches. He will be missed and his memory treasured.
