Bonnie, Feb. 8, 2005 - Apr. 21, 2019
Bonnie was a much-loved family pet and therapy dog. She was gentle and loving, with a soft personality, traits that made her an ideal therapy dog. She started working in 2006, at 18 months of age, and continued until her retirement, due to a heart condition, in December, 2017. During that time, she visited a wide variety of people: students, elementary and college-age, hospital patients, mental hospital patients, seniors, adolescents in a shelter, young women in a group home for foster children who had aged out of the system, patients at a drug rehabilitation facility, a therapist helping a family who was terrified of dogs, and she helped out at evaluations as neutral dog. In all, Bonnie made 438 visits, 129 of which were at Mission Hospital (both campuses) and 102 at schools, usually as a reading dog. She certainly earned her retirement. Good girl, Bonnie.
