Adobe and Lacey
Lacey & Adobe - our sweet love Girlies. Both left us in a 10 day period. ÃÃÅƆWe miss them every minute. They came to us about 3 years apart. Adobe joined us the first part of Jan 2008. She came to the Santa Fe Shelter from the Aztec NM shelter & we figure she was a rez dog. Adobe never got over needing to know she had food, - our other dogs learned quickly not to go near her bowl at eating time ! Adobe also licked people to her very end, at one time having a food bowl mat declaring "Beware, dog can't hold it's licker !" - On her first evening at our house Adobe went to the end of the portal as she heard coyotes howling. She gave one long howl & never howled again. It was like she told them she has a home & family now.
Adobe was SO a Dad's Girl. She loved to have him throw a ball or other toy to chase. Every eve as Dad watched TV, Adobe was next to him with her head on his lap.
Our dogs have LOVED walks around the neighborhood or spending part of a day playing at Santa Fe Tails day care. They especially found joy at our Santa Fe Shelter fully fenced in dog park where they could run free.
Lacey joined our pack in early 2011. Her first year of life must have been unkind. It took sweet Lacey about 2 & 1/2 years to trust us. What a wonderful gift to have her love us. Lacey was "my Girl". Her favorite place for snuggles was on a couch w/her at one end & me at the other. We'd meet in the middle & she'd put her chin down so I could pet & massage her head, neck & ears. - Lacey's favorite 'job' was being the "Great White Hunter". She spent hours watching, then tracking lizards. - Lacey's favorite food was salmon ! I'll always remember that when I see salmon.
Adobe slept on our bed all night, but Lacey would stay up there only until one of us climbed in, then she'd go down to her own bed.
