"MORGIE" BEYOND THE RAINBOW - 09/21/98-03/22/11
If Tears could build a stairway, and Memories a Lane
I†d Walk Right up to Heaven and Bring you Home Again.
Morgie, there are no words that can express how much you were loved. Everyone who knew you instantly saw what a gentle, sweet, loving, incredible companion you were. You were a true †mamma†s girl,†never letting me out of your sight for a minute. You and I had a very special bond. You will live on in my heart forever and everâ€Ã
Anyone who was lucky enough to know you knew that you could be rather †outspoken†at times and liked to have the last †bark†so its only fitting that you should you should indeed have the last †barkâ€
Hi there â€" my name is Morgan (aka †Morgie†) I was born on 9/21/98 and when I was eight weeks old I went to my †forever home†with my †mom†Denise and went to live with my sister Molly. I had such a wonderful, happy life. My mom adored me and I adored her â€" and I also loved my †big sister†Molly. Life was good!! During my first two years I competed in conformation. I won a couple of points but did not feel this was my †calling†There is definitely more to life than being a †beauty queen!†I then followed my motherly instincts and had nine golden babies (please look at foto album to see a picture of me and my daughter Belle!)
When I was seven years old I was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor. I was fortunate that my mom was †meticulous†about my medical care and she noticed this immediately and I had a big surgery to remove part of my lip â€" and even so the surgery left me not quite as gorgeous as before, they were able to remove all the cancer! After being in the hospital and knowing how scary that is, and since I had been given †another chance at life†I decided I wanted to †give back†and become a therapy dog. I became a Certified Delta Therapy dog and also a certified R.E.A.D. dog. Since I love children so much it was a natural choice for me to visit the children at Children†s Hospital of Orange County every Sunday afternoon and I also went to the elementary school to †help†the children R.E.A.D. Being a therapy dog was awesome!!! I loved the attention, sharing hugs with all the children and also to see the big smiles on their faces when they got to hug and pet me!! Believe me â€" I was smiling too â€" not only did I love the attention but I also got to eat lots of homemade cookies!!!! My †mom†used to make different shapes and ask the children which one I would like (are you kidding me â€" I did not care what shape they were!!!!) Interestingly all the boys picked the fire hydrant shaped cookies and the girls picked the hearts or star shaped cookies!!
On December 6th, my sister Molly collapsed suddenly and died that same day. She was 14-3/4 years old and lived an apparently †normal life†until that last day. My mom and I were so shocked and sad. After two weeks my mom was very concerned at how sad and †depressed†I was â€" she thought I was grieving for Molly (but really I had cancer and she did not know it) â€" so she brought home a new sister, Macy, to cheer me up. Unfortunately â€" I just felt too sick to play with Macy, but I did muster up enough energy to take her on her walks for a few weeksâ€Ã
Two weeks after Macy came to stay with us mom found out that I had hemangiosarcoma. Even so my mom did everything she could to help me â€" it was just too much for my 12-1/2 year old body to bear. I had a wonderful life and my mom knows I will be waiting with Molly for her and Macy at the bridgeâ€Ã
As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade
I saw a wondrous image then of a place that†s trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again and spend eternity.
I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful -- lush and green and wide!
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be!
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do.
I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm allright
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright Glow pierced the night.
'Twas the Glow of many Candles shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in its brilliant shades of gold.
For although we may not be together in the way we used to be,
We are still connected by a cord no eye can see.
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart.
