Guestbook for Bernard

You were a wonderful boy and brought so many smiles when you visited hospitals and nursing homes. Your mom and dad were so very proud of you. And so handsome!

It seems like yesterday when you brought Bernard home. Time flies when you're having fun and I know he brought light and laughter into your home. We know when we bring a dog into our lives that we will lose him one day. Yet they bring so much joy that we gladly welcome them one after another. It doesn't make the loss any easier to bear, but think of the wonderful family group we will make when we all meet over the rainbow bridge. Enjoy your memories of Bubbles and Bernard. They were great companions.

The first time I met Bernard was at a Halloween party at a special-needs school. We had a lovely visit with the kids, and then when it was almost time to go, a little child threw a shoe, hitting Bernard. Although he wasn't upset in the least, our visit was over. To me, he was the living definition of "mellow." He will be missed.

Claudia, What a wonderful spirit Bernard had. He was one of the first Delta dogs I had the pleasure of meeting. Treasure the joy and love he selflessly gave to your family and the volunteer community at large. With love, Heather

Dear Claudia - I am so sorry about Bernard - he was a wonderful therapy dog. I remember years ago when we were getting his and Jenna's photo ID's made at CHOC. The chair was smooth, hard plastic - Jenna kept slipping out of the chair due to her puffy fur on the back of her legs. Then is was Bernard's turn and he wanted nothing to do with that chair! He was a big boy but his sweet side thought that chair was a monster, ha! Finally we got him up in the chair and ducked below the view of the camera and held his feet still just long enough for them to snap his photo. I smile when I think of the way you packed ice in his vest pockets to keep him cool when we worked the Pet Expo booth - such a good Momma . I know this is a terrible time for you - I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
