Emerging scientific evidence suggests that reptiles, fish, mollusks, insects, birds and mammals may have a sense of consciousness, and “it is irresponsible to ignore that possibility in decisions affecting that animal,” according to scientists who signed the New York Declaration on Animal Consciousness.
